Jim Nicholson Receives Nostra Aetate Award

On 21 Nov 2002, the Center for Christian-Jewish Understanding of Sacred Heart University bestowed its Nostra Aetate Award to Jim Nicholson, United States Ambassador to the Holy See.

The Nostra Aetate Award is given each year to honor an individual for his or her "outstanding achievements in making the world a better place."

In choosing Ambassador Nicholson for this award, Rabbi Joseph H. Ehrenkranz, Executive Director of the Center for Christian-Jewish Understanding, said "because of his service to humanity as a diplomat, our center recognized his value as a representative of our country as an example of an image of Americans who care".

In prior years the award has been presented to the late Cardinal John O'Connor, Cardinal William Keeler, and the former Chief Rabbi of Europe, Rabbi Renee-Samuel Sirat.
