Have written a book about West Point called To Be a Soldier: A Selective American Military History.. It was published in 2015.
Next book is titled: Timestep: A Love Story.(fiction). It should be published in 2019 or 2020. It starts out as the memoir of a West Point officer but then takes a bizarre twist.
Was the editor-in-chief of ASSEMBLY magazine forever and then launched its replacement, West Point magazine,before departing the WPAOG.
Commanded Combat Support Company in Korea in 1962 as a second lieutenant. Then did not get another command until 1980 in Alaska--the 4th Bn, 9th Arctic Infantry. Survived at 55 below.
Taught Literature and Philosophy at West Point (1969-72) and Offensive Tactics at CGSC (1976-80). Married Sylvia Ann Graham, from North Carolina and DC, in 1971 while at USMA.
Gave the VC two shots at me. in 1964 with Special Forces and with the Vietnamese Ranger Training Center in 1966-67. Started the Vietnamese LRRP program there.
Actually started a small college on post at Ft. Campbell, KY, in 1972-73. It was called Eagle University, and they even let me teach literature.
In retirement, I earned a joint degree in business and law in 1988 and worked for a real law firm, Baker, Worthington et al in Nashville, TN. for a few years before joining the WPAOG.
